I wasn’t a very big fan of history in school, way too many dates to remember. That all changed when I became hooked on Davy Crockett thanks to Walt Disney. On December 15, 1954, on Disney’s television show Disneyland, he aired the first in a three part series on Davy Crockett. But it was the last in that series, Davy Crockett at the Alamo on February 23, 1955, that really lighted the history bug in me.

As I began reading about the Alamo, I came to realized that history wasn’t so much the dates, but rather it was about the people involved in those events. My interests in history grew from the Alamo, to ancient Greece, Rome, and beyond. But I was truly an armchair historian, only dreaming of visiting those sites of my studies.

I became interested in photography, finding that I had, “an eye” for it. I was able to use my photographic talents often in my different careers. I also wanted to write, however my work kept me from exploring that interest. In 2013, all those dreams and ambitions would finally come together.

In 2013, I retired, and I began to live my dream of traveling the world, seeing all those historic places that I had been reading about. I was now able to travel and use my love for history, photography and to also be able to share it through my writing.

Supporting me, and joining in the fun, is my wife and travel partner Karen; who I’ve known since 1964, and married in 1969. Karen and I have one daughter, Melissa.  

It’s a thrill, and a blessing, to be able to take all of my followers along with me on this exciting journey thru out the world; and to give light to its history.
